Farmin' fools...

The milking barn.

Sadie, she's got personality.

Thumbs up kitty!

The Canadian hunter's club begins...

David Rae paid us a visit, we hiked out in the swamp for some pumpkin shooting but not before Adam and David...

Sparred in the living room...

the Canadian hunter's club is born!

Canadian hunters make surprisingly good dancers!

Adam hasn't been the same since David left him.

Christmas Riddles

So, about a month ago there was a little holiday we fondly call Christmas. Our lovely, loving, wonderful families sent us packages and we tried very hard to figure out what the gifts were.

had my mother visited the bass pro shop this year for a little last minute shopping?

or perhaps her concern was the warmth of our ears?

????

Perhaps a drink will help us figure out this riddle...

Finally...Adam leans back to think and I see it so clearly...pasties! Thanks Mom!

This is a picture from Annie's (our landlord) back field, she has about 70 acres that she has mostly in hay. The barn houses her morgan horses.

Adventures in gaining weight...

Butter Adam slaved over for twenty minutes and some super easy to make crackers.
Sauerkraut...so when do I add the water?

Bierrocks , filled with the beef from Crawford farm and cabbage.

MEAT!

Woah there Meat Fest!
Walking with Ethyl Girl on our Unsolved Mysteries blood trail morning.
Acorns were collected and ground, Adam made them into some wonderful black muffins.
mmm...yams and babouchkas. Preparing for Meat Fest 2010
Victory lap around the pond.

Then we headed to Kansas and up to the Chicago area to visit our families...I didn't take my camera out in Kansas but got some great pictures around Adam's folks' place.

To Vermont...

In October we packed up the car and headed east...first stop Reno! We almost doubled our money which nearly paid for one of our drinks. This is us after our big win!
Next we stopped at my grandpa's wife's cabin in Creede, CO a little mining town. The leaves were just finishing turning on the aspens and the snow just started to cover the tops of the mountains. It was a nice mid country break from driving. We tromped around back behind the cabin, checked out the cemetery and hiked around climbing into old mine shafts...just kidding...but we saw quite a few.

It has been nearly a year since my last post...this one's for you Brad...I finally remembered that I have a blog, now if I could just remember where I am...

Farmey farm farm trippin...

Man, can they wale.
Finally we were all in the frame, sort of.
One of our last harvests before leaving Portland.
Matt, i.e. Goat Matt, countless hours spent harvesting, weeding, planting, always a pleasure. Especially when the afternoon goofiness took over at 10am.

It's not what it looks like...what is it?

Working at the farm with these boys was quite possibly the best work environment I have ever had.

Back in September, when I was neglecting the blog.

You should see those cans.
Boy howdy Sarah.

My roommate, Sarah, Adam and I went to the Painted Hills in "eastern" Oregon. It's amazing how different the climate becomes with just a little travel in Oregon. There is the cool damp coast, rainy Portland, then you can go down hill skiing on Mount Hood then out to the high desert. It is beautiful out there and we enjoyed being able to wonder around without fear of getting lost, without forest everywhere it's a lot easier to keep track of yourself.

Book Jackets

I found this great picture on the Cargo Collective website. Love it. It made me think of my cousin Erica!
